Detroit at work is helping with Covid-19 Relief.
Due to Corona virus restrictions, Career Centers are currently unable to see in-person visitors, but you can still access workshops, job opportunities, career advisement and other services on Detroit at work website (Link Down Below) and by phone.
You can now complete FCA job readiness activities online, as well as accessing a wide range of ‘Ready to Hire’ jobs and virtual workshops.

Phone Assistance Guidance Update
Due to Governor Whitmer’s Stay Home, Stay Safe Order being extended, we are extending the guidance for providing assistance to clients over the phone to June 12th. With the Stay Home, Stay Safe Order in place, MDHHS understands that many of our MI Bridges Navigation Partners have moved away from providing in-person assistance with MI Bridges and are wondering how they can provide assistance to clients over the phone. In an effort to better support our MI Bridges Community Partners who still are providing services via the phone, we have developed the following guidance on how to provide this assistance with MI Bridges account creation and online applications for benefits. This is a temporary measure that is only in place until June 12th and is subject to change. MDHHS will provide updates as processes/policies are changed.
Additional Food Assistance Benefits in Response to COVID-19 Emergency Extended Through May
Approximately 350,000 Michigan families will continue to have access to additional food assistance benefits in the month of May in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) announced May 26, 2020. The additional food assistance was initially approved for March and April – and now that is being extended for May. Eligible clients will see additional food assistance benefits on their Bridge Card this week and by May 31. You can find the full press release here.
State leaders urge residents with water bill payment concerns to contact local water departments and state assistance programs
State leaders urged those with recently reconnected residential water service to begin the process of working with local water departments to identify assistance programs and financial assistance to remain connected. Health Insurance Enrollment Deadlines Approaching for Michiganders who Lost Job or Experienced a Drop in Income
Deadlines are fast approaching for people who lost their health insurance due to layoffs, reduced hours, or a change in income during the COVID-19 pandemic to take advantage of low or no-cost health care options available through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Consumers in these situations must sign up for health insurance within 60 days, which is coming soon for people who were impacted in the early weeks of the COVID-19 response.
To determine eligibility, consumers should visit the Health Insurance Marketplace at www.healthcare.gov. Depending on income and their situation, consumers may qualify for cost sharing reductions, premium tax credits, coverage for their children (CHIP), or Medicaid. Consumers should contact DIFS toll free at 877-999-6442 if they need assistance.
